What is a "Martingale" Collar?
Martingale collars are fitted to the exact size of the dog's neck when the dog collar is pulled closed. This prevents dogs from easily slipping out of their collar by gently tightening so that it is unable to slip over the ears. It does not damage the fur, will not crush the trachea, and provides a gentle correction similar to a choke chain. The wider collar disperses pressure evenly across the neck, protecting the trachea and allows you to keep control of your dog without risk of injury or escape. This means a safer collar for your dog.
Properly fitted, the collar will be comfortably loose when not in use. When the Martingale control loop is pulled, the 2 slides (hardware on the small control loop of the Martingale collar) should pull close together but the two slides SHOULD NEVER TOUCH.
Chain martingales, which provide the sound of the chain choker but the gentleness of the regular Martingale, are available upon request.
As with any collar that tightens when pulled, it is not recommend that you allow your dog to wear a Martingale collar unsupervised.
A portion of the proceeds are donated to various animal rescues, that are on my "links" page.
